SHARP PERFORMANCE HORSES

Improving horse and rider communication

Specializing in the All-Around horse and rider

We offer group and private lessons for children and adults in Huntseat, Jumping, Western, Halter, Showmanship, Trail and Equitation for beginners through advanced levels.

LESSONS:

Huntseat instruction includes basic position, strengthening, and proper and effective equitation. Emphasis is placed on subtle use of cues and the majority of instruction is based on the ideals of dressage. Safe jumping skills are also covered in the curriculum.

Intermediate and advanced riders will also be instructed in the skills needed for today’s show ring competition.

Western instruction includes basic position, strengthening and proper and effective horsemanship. Emphasis is placed on subtle use of cues. Other areas covered in the curriculum include trail obstacles and gymkhana events. Intermediate and advanced riders are also instructed in the skills needed for today’s show ring competition.

Riders ages 2 and up are welcome!

Beginning riders are welcome here, as are riders looking to continue their show careers on the open or breed horse show circuits.

Lessons are tailored to the rider’s age and ability level.

We have a full barn of quiet and safe lesson horses available to perfect your skills on.

You are also welcome to bring your own horse to work with!

Lessons include:

* safety of horse and rider

* grooming and general horse care

* tacking up and proper equipment

* proper position

* knowledge of horse behavior

* comfort at all gaits

* care of horse and equipment after lessons

Group Lessons

$160.00/4 session package

$200.00/5 session package

$45.00/ session when purchased on a lesson by lesson basis

Sessions last 45-90 minutes to be determined by the instructor.

Group lessons sizes are minimum of 2 riders and a maximum of 4 riders.

Group lessons purchased as a 4 or 5 session package must be pre-paid.

Lessons must take place within a consecutive 30 day period.

Lesson Waiver

Special Programs…provide opportunities for our students to participate in educational and social activities. These include horse shows for the lesson program clients, open horse shows off the property, horse sales, riding camps, trail rides, parties, clinics and seminars. We offer you a very well-rounded program, not just teaching you how to ride but offering instruction in all areas of the horse world and horse care.

Policies…all lessons are to be paid for a month at a time at the beginning of the month before the first lesson. This can be done by check, money order or cash. If you have to cancel your lesson for any reason, please call within 6 hours of your scheduled lesson. I will reschedule your lesson. If I have to cancel lessons for illness or weather, they will be rescheduled.

Equipment… Comfortable, well-fitting boots with a smooth sole and heel are required. Jeans, breeches or long pants are also required. SPH will provide a correctly fitted SEI helmet for use, however, we recommend investing in your own protective headgear. Students of SPH receive a 10% discount at a local tack store on helmets and boots. Please see instructor for coupons.
